Additional Notes

Note: This is a formal thank-you note rather than one of Bill’s usual letters home, written on U.S. Marines (Honolulu, Hawaii) letterhead to the Navy Mothers Club chapter in Tulsa, Oklahoma, thanking them for the Christmas box and card he mentions receiving in the Dec. 26, 1940 letter in this collection. It is one of the few items in this collection that Bill signs with his full name, William S. Brown, rather than simply “Bill.” This letter is accompanied by a full typed transcript, appended to the end of this scan, for ease of reading.
