Description:

Panoramic photograph taken from the Nu’uanu Pali lookout on Oahu, Hawaii, looking down across the windward valley toward Kaneohe Bay. Several automobiles are parked along the overlook’s stone guardrail as a group poses for a photograph, while a pickup truck loaded with supplies passes by in the foreground. William Stinson Brown took this photograph, noting the family taking a photo together and the truck loaded down with supplies. 1940.

Additional Notes

This photograph is from the personal collection of photographs taken by CPL William Stinson Brown while stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii before the infamous attack of 7 December 1941. CPL Brown was there during the attack. These unique photographs were donated to the COGG Honor Archive for public use of students, writers and researchers of history. The generous donation was from CPL William S Brown’s, son, William Stinson “Bill” Brown Jr. and his loving granddaughter Caitlin Brown Clancy.
